Being able to capture these life moments is truly what I love about what I do. As an Arizona wedding photographer, I love being able to build strong connections with my clients for years to come. It makes capturing these next milestones fun!
When I get to capture past wedding clients with either a baby announcement, maternity session, or even their little growing families’ first photoshoot together, I get so excited to see them and it’s like no time has ever passed! That’s why I am now offering “Family Mini-Sessions” locally in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.
When you hire a photographer for the first time, it can take some time to get warmed up and comfortable. That’s why wedding photographers highly encourage engagement sessions, learn more here! Pictures really capture the genuine smiles and reactions of the moment so I value building relationships with my clients.

So What Are My Family Mini Sessions?
My mini sessions are photoshoots I love to offer for families with small kids who don’t need a full hour to shoot. We all know kids’ attention span when they are little with photoshoots is very small, so these mini sessions are designed for families still wanting those photos! They are at a Phoenix/Scottsdale location that’s easy and on time. This way we don’t take up too much of your kids’ time all while capturing those perfect moments!
Each Family Mini Session includes:
- A 30 min, Golden-Hour photography session at Papago Park (location set in stone by the photographer)
- Gallery of high-resolution photos to download, print, and share
- Minimum 30 photos
- 3-week turnaround time
Tips On What To Wear For Your Mini Family Session
Coordinating outfits for everyone in your family might seem like a pain, but trust me when I say…
It really, really makes your photos!
Here are my tips:
- When picking out your outfits, wear something that makes you feel YOU! Because you will feel far more comfortable when you feel like yourself.
- Wear something you can move in! The best photos come out of movement so we will be doing a lot of it.
- Consider the location we are shooting at. You want to complement the colors of the environment and not blend in or get lost in the landscape. For example, Papago Park has a lot of red rocks, so red might not be a good choice for your outfits.
- My favorite colors to pick for your family are always neutral and solid colors. Aka no logos. I recommend more earthy tones that aren’t too distracting. But, if you want to go all in and wear sparkles…LET’S DO THE DAMN THANG because we all know you can’t have enough sparkle!!
- If one person is in a dark color, make sure the other is in a lighter color. The juxtaposition complements each other well.
- STAY AWAY FROM MULTIPLE PATTERNS! You really only want one pattern, and the rest to be solid colors. Patterns tend to be distracting with the backdrop and do not photograph as well as solid colors do. So if one person is in a pattern, make sure the others are in solids.

What to Expect From Our Family Mini Session
Being a lover of natural light, golden hour is my favorite hour! We will shoot until the sun sets. Plan accordingly ahead with the little ones’ nap schedules, sleep schedules, and possibly snacks. I will keep you posted on the time a couple of days out from the shoot and make sure to have a location at Papago where to meet and where to park for the session.
It’s best to arrive in your first outfit, and then we will get right to work. Of course after a big hug and a little small talk!!
Feel free to arrive 5-10 minutes early for our session if you want me to look over your outfit ideas.
LET’S DO IT TOGETHER!
I will ensure that your memories are documented in the perfect way and have your sneak peeks up no longer than 48 hours and a full gallery within 3 weeks!
Tips for Photographing the Little Ones
I will have music playing for the kids so they can dance to some great hits and boogie their way through the session.
(Did I mention movement captures so well?!)
During the session, we are most likely playing games to get those candid reactions like playing tag, tickling one another (aka tickle monster), I Spy with my little eye, Red Rover, or talking about what’s your favorite kind of ice cream.

Please know that I do not expect you to be a model.
Most people haven’t been professionally photographed and that’s perfect! My job is to direct you in a way that helps you relax and feel natural and your true comfortable selves in front of the lens. By the end of the session, you won’t even know I am there!
Maybe packing little treats, like your kids’ favorite candy, is always a win for smiles! Sometimes I even bring bubbles for the little ones to play with which always distracts them for a good amount of time for the perfect shots. All the cuteness is real!!
