So you are choosing from the Best Worldwide Elopement Locations, huh?! I am so glad you found this blog because I am a self-proclaimed professional when it comes to finding the best elopement locations!

Before we can really get into choosing your dream location, we need to talk a bit about you and your significant other!

Do you spend most of your time hiking in the pine-infused mountains or does the sand meeting the waves on the beach tickle your fancy? Are you desert dreaming or would you rather book a plane ticket to hop across the pond to an international destination?

Determining your Elopement Location Specifics

To help you choose from the best worldwide elopement locations, the following questions are really going to narrow down what you are looking for! Mentally jot down your answers or pull out a pen or paper!

WHAT KIND OF SCENERY DO YOU WANT?

I personally feel like this is the most important question to ask yourself! If you have an idea of what type of scenery you are going for, then you are able to narrow down your locations!

SUNRISE OR SUNSET ELOPEMENTS?

You have really had to take into consideration if you are an early morning type of couple! Both times of day are beautiful, but I have had so many clients refuse sunrise elopements and that is okay! Do what works best for you!

WHAT TIME OF THE YEAR DO YOU WANT TO ELOPE IN?

Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall – which one are you feeling?! Each is beautiful in so many incredible and unique ways!

ANY SPECIFIC PLACE THAT IS MEANINGFUL?

It is no secret, that couples have their special spots! Did you know that this location could also hold the memory of your elopement as well?!

DO YOU WANT TO ELOPE PRIVATELY OR BRING GUESTS?

One of my favorite parts of elopements is the fact that you don’t HAVE to invite anyone! It can be 100% just a day where you focus on the love you share. However, if you want to include your family and friends, you still have that option!

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU ELOPE?

The possibilities are ENDLESS when you elope and are really able to add anything you want! You can hike, paddleboard, swim in the ocean, or even book a seaplane!

 

MOUNTAIN ELOPEMENTS

My Favorite Mountain Locations: Mount Rainier + Mount Baker in Washington and Glacier National Park in Montana.

If you are a fan of wildflowers, that I recommend eloping in the summertime! Most of the national parks are open for smaller periods of time due to snowfall! As far as your POTENTIAL wintertime, mountain elopement goes, this means that dates are limited! These truly are some of the best worldwide elopement locations.

MOUNT BAKER AND MOUNT RAINIER

Just hours from Seattle, these mountains (and active volcanos) will definitely check all of your elopement boxes! Throughout the entire year, there is always snow at their peaks! That means that if you elope in the summertime, you will have wildflowers and a snowy backdrop!

GLACIER NATIONAL PARK

If you are mountain obsessed, that you NEED to consider Glacier for your mountain elopement! Get married among the wildlife and the nature views that it has to offer!

You do need a permit and entrance fees to access the park! These range from $30 – $35 depending on the vehicle and amount of individuals entering.

DESERT ELOPEMENTS

My Favorite Desert Locations: Zion + Bryce Canyon National Parks in Utah and Arizona Desert including the National Parks near Sedona.

You are able to elope all year long at these locations because the weather stays relatively perfect! The summertime is PRETTY hot, but it is totally doable! Some winters produce a little bit of snow in places like Zion and Bryce, and the contrast of the white and the red rocks is breathtaking!

ZION NATIONAL PARK

This location is an extremely popular tourist destination. It is busiest through March and November but slows down during the winter months. If you are wanting to elope over a holiday (weekend) be prepared to battle the general public!

There are lots of super cool hotels and Airbnb’s around the park if you or your guests are in need of a place to stay. The restaurants are yummy too and some provide incredible views.

Here’s my favorite Zion Accommodation: Zion Wildflower Resort

BRYCE NATIONAL PARK

Bryce deserves more hype than it gets! This location is incredible, and is the PERFECT place to elope! It is known for its countless hoo-doos (rock spire formations) and gives off all of the “Mars on Earth” vibes!

It isn’t as busy as Zion, but it does take some planning to miss all of the people during the busy season (March – November). Like most of the Utah Desert, the weather, all those relatively decent, can change on a dime! Bryce experiences flash floods and mudslides pretty often!

ARIZONA DESERT INCLUDING SEDONA

Some of the most incredible places near and in Sedona are Bell and Cathedral Rock! These provide the most amazing backdrops for the most amazing elopements!

I don’t think the red rock will ever be a bad idea and the Arizona Desert isn’t lacking it!

BEACH ELOPEMENTS

My Favorite Beach Locations: Oregon Coast and North Carolina Coast

At these locations, you are able to elope all throughout the year! The winter can be a little bit chilly when you are at the beach, but the weather’s moodiness makes for the most beautiful atmosphere! The PNW (Pacific Northwest) and the North Carolina Coast never disappoint and are both fantastic options!

OREGON COAST

I always recommend the Oregon Coast to anyone looking to elope. It is roughly 80 miles from Portland and super accessible!

It is riddled with rock formations such as Haystack Rock along with tidepools and lighthouses strewn among moody beaches!

NORTH CAROLINA COAST

If you haven’t considered the NC Coast, you definitely need to! I feel like NC was MADE for elopements, the beaches are beautiful and can truly turn your day into a fairytale!

Have you been binge-watching The Outerbanks on Netflix?! That is in North Carolina AND you are able to elope there! My favorite part? It is truly available all year long! They do have hurricanes which you need to be mindful of! Their hurricane season ranges from June to November!

INTERNATIONAL/DESTINATION ELOPEMENTS

My Favorite International Location: Ireland.

IRELAND

There are so many reasons why eloping in Ireland is a good idea!

If you choose to invite family and friends, they get a vacation out of it! I mean, they are already traveling there! They might as well experience it!

You also get to say that you eloped in Ireland! How cool is that?!

I will say that there are a lot more moving parts you have to plan for which makes it a little bit harder than the above locations that I mentioned!
