This moody winter engagement session in the desert of Phoenix, Arizona was just that: DREAMY.
Since moving to Arizona and basing my elopement and wedding photography business out of it, I have noticed something pretty strange!
Lots of people don’t give the Arizona Desert the hype it deserves, and it blows my mind! Without a doubt, the desert has quickly become one of my favorite locations, and I hope to show the world just how much beauty it has to offer!

LEARN ABOUT THE COUPLE
Jamie and Harrison are from Houston, Texas.
They are very outdoorsy and adventurous people! They love to camp, hike, and just be in the outdoors. The couple has been drawn to the Arizona desert with visiting multiple times a year.
Harrison proposed at an epic location north of Phoenix in Lake Powell. When Harrison proposed, Jamie knew she wanted to have a non-traditional wedding.
It was fitting that Harrison proposed in a place they love exploring together and getting married where it all started!
PLANNING A DESERT ELOPEMENT
They are doing a two-day elopement for their wedding!
On the first day, they are planning on only including their closest families members. They will be heading up to Lake Powell with them so they can say their vows and say the words, “I Do.” That day they will also be taking epic photos in jaw-dropping locations.
The next day, they (with me in tow) are heading back to Phoenix! They are having a wedding reception at the Botanical Gardens with all their friends and family to celebrate the night away!
Honestly, I love how they have gone about things! They grew up very traditional but came to realize that when it was time to plan a wedding, they didn’t want any of the traditions! They wanted to do something that showed everyone who they are as a couple!
THINKING ABOUT PLANNING AN OUT-OF-STATE PHOENIX, ARIZONA WEDDING?
My biggest recommendation for planning an out-of-state wedding especially in the Phoenix, Arizona area, is to think about what you both want!
From here, you can discuss with your photographer specific locations that will fit the “vibe” you are going for.
For example, Jamie knew she wanted their wedding to be in the desert! She specifically loves the cactus and the neutral colors! When she came to me with ideas of locations for their Desert Wedding, I knew instantly the perfect location to recommend to here and Harrison.

- THE WEATHER IS ALWAYS AMAZING (though a little hot at times)
