Nothing warms my heart more than getting to document a surprise proposal in the desert of Phoenix, Arizona. This White Tank Mountains Proposal was no different! From the location to the ring to the happiness, my heart was pouring out all its love for this couple.

WHITE TANK MOUNTAINS PROPOSAL
I was able to witness and capture the sweetest surprise proposal at the White Tank Mountains near Phoenix, Arizona. Let me tell you, these are some of my favorite sessions EVER. I think the adrenaline that comes from them is a force to be reckoned with!

The entire time, Lynsey had no idea what was about to become of her future! She thought Jon was taking her on a cute walk to enjoy the stunning views of the White Tank Mountains. In her mind, her only job was to admire the beauty of Arizona’s desert landscape.
As Jon and Lynsey were appreciating the vastness, Jon bent down on his knee and asked Lynsey to be his wife.
The two celebrated with champagne and a gorgeous sunset photoshoot. Honestly, it couldn’t have been more perfect! And, I wholeheartedly believe that these two lovebirds would have to agree.
BUILDING THE PLAN
Leading up to this White Tank Mountains Proposal, Jon and I were in constant contact so that we could plan the best surprise proposal. You see, Jon wanted to surprise Lynsey and propose to her in the desert with the cactus landscape all around them.
The two of them were visiting Lynsey’s parent’s who snowbird in Surprise by Phoenix. So, it was really easy to devise a plan! The plan was that Lynsey’s parents were going to drive them to a location, where Lynsey and Jon would take a quick hike. When Lynsey least expected it, Jon would get down on one knee and have a photographer capture the surprise moment, AND OH BOY WAS SHE SURPRISED!
A week before the proposal, I scouted out the area of White Tank Mountains and sent Jon directions on which hiking location would be best to propose at and where to park all the details. On the actual proposal day, I was just casually out and about on the trail taking selfies on a tripod of myself, acting like an influencer with the iconic desert backdrop of gorgeous cacti everywhere and a mountain in the backdrop. I’m not going to lie, I thing I deserve an Oscar nomination for that performance!
I texted Jon saying to give me a head up for when he is going to get down on one knee, and when he texted me it’s time, Lynsey was so into the moment listening to Jon that I snuck up right when he got down and capture the proposal.
MISSION. COMPLETION.

Surprise proposals are some of my favorite moments I get to capture for couples. Especially if they are a White Tank Mountain Proposal! I mean, LOOK AT THIS LOCATION!
There is something about capturing these raw moments that get me weak to my knees and all giddy with excitement.
I make sure that as a photographer, I am able to blend in with the moment! That way, nobody knows I will be capturing the big surprise! I always make sure to bring a bottle of bubbly, and champagne flutes so that after the proposal, the couple can pop a champagne bottle and toast to the new adventure together!
Every surprise proposal booked, comes with a free bottle of bubbly on me! IT’S MY THING!!
Listen, it is moments like these make me love what I do. Being able to capture these sweet moments and tell a story for the couple to look back on is worth a thousand words.
