Photographing Disneyland on Film

The last thing I want to do on vacation is spend time editing more photos. With film photography, once you get your shots developed, there’s no need for editing!

The unmatched colors that film photos naturally capture are beautiful.

I could rave for days about the incredible hues film produces.

It’s the captivating colors that constantly draw my attention and fuel my passion for shooting more film and experimenting with different types of films. Join me in bringing back the nostalgic Disneyland vibe through the lens of a 35mm film camera!

All Things Film

I don’t know about you but there is something nostalgic about Disneyland… I mean, DUH! Capturing some of the vintage rides, especially on your film camera just gives your photos a timeless charming look!

During this specific trip,I tried out a new film roll that I am OBSESSED with; ELEKTRA 100 film!

This film, at the beginning of the roll, is more susceptible to light leaks when loading WHICH ARE MY FAVORITE PHOTOS ON FILM.

The film colors are very true to life with vibrant tones of reds and greens. The richness of these color tones might make this my new favorite film roll especially sure the summer months of sunnier days with the ISO being 100.

Here are MY Top 3 Favorite Film Rolls I Constantly Use:

My Favorite Film to Use at Disneyland is Now:

Everything You Need to Know About Point + Shoot Film Cameras

Recently, I’ve developed a passion for capturing moments using a playful, point-and-shoot film camera to document my travels, weddings, and more.

I’m particularly enamored with the dynamic world of flash photography, and the simplicity of a point-and-shoot film camera is what draws me in. Unlike my Canon AE-1 Film camera, which demands a certain level of technique, the point-and-shoot variety allows me to instantly seize the moment with a simple click.

These cameras, especially those from the 1990s-2000s era, are compact and convenient—perfect for someone like me who is always on the go, especially during visits to Disneyland!

My Favorite Point + Shoots:

Pro Tip from a Pro Photographer:

When I’m in the market for a point-and-shoot film camera, my preference is to go for one with an aperture ring, such as the Contact t2 or the Ricoh GR1s (just a little tip based on personal shooting preferences).

The presence of an aperture ring or an autofocus button really seals the deal for me, ensuring that I won’t miss capturing any film moment.

Yet, isn’t the charm of film photography found in its grainy imperfections?

That’s precisely why the Pentax Espoo Mini takes the third spot on my list of favorite point-and-shoot film cameras ;).

My go-to travel companion camera is none other than the renowned Fujifilm x100V!

This digital marvel comes equipped with film simulations, adding an extra layer of creativity to your shots. With its 23mm f/2 lens featuring a handy zoom function, there’s no need to lug around multiple detachable lenses—this all-in-one camera is perfectly sized for your travels.

Say goodbye to the expenses associated with traditional film photography, as this camera provides the nostalgic feel of film in a convenient digital format.

Plus, the Fujifilm X Weekly app offers a plethora of film simulation recipes, making it a delight to experiment with different looks in various destinations. Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or a newcomer to film shooting, the Fujifilm x100V stands out as the ultimate choice.

Make this camera your go-to for capturing the essence of your trips or everyday moments—it’s a must-have!

Disneyland PhotoPass Photographers

When heading to Disneyland or any Disney park, my top recommendation is to invest in the upgraded “Genie Plus” Pass, even if you’re a shutterbug like me.

This add-on enhances your park experience by providing front-of-the-line access (via lightning passes) and instantly capturing Disney Photos taken by park photographers, which are then promptly downloaded to your phone.

The real gem here is the Disney PhotoPass, making Genie Plus truly worthwhile.

Disneyland PhotoPass Photographers are scattered throughout the park, simplifying the process with a quick barcode scan that uploads your photos directly to the “My Disney Experience” app.

Believe me, the upload is practically instantaneous! Riding attractions where your photos were taken becomes even more enjoyable when you can instantly access them on your phone.

After all, isn’t the essence of a Disney visit about creating magical memories?

The Disney PhotoPass service ensures those memories linger. As a photographer myself, it’s a delightful perk to have other photographers capture moments of me for a change, making the visit even more fantastic! You can conveniently purchase Genie+ through the Disney Experience app.

Bringing your film camera to Disney is an absolute must!

The intentional approach to capturing moments adds a unique charm to your pictures. I’m eagerly anticipating my return to the parks for even more enchanting shots! Developing film photos from Disneyland is akin to experiencing the joy of Christmas morning as a child.

I’m all set to revisit and craft additional magical memories at Disney.
