Welcome to a journey where each of your wedding day details becomes a piece of your unique love story.

As a wedding photographer who cherishes the beauty in life’s small moments, I am so excited to share this guide on how to elevate your wedding details for breathtaking photos and everlasting memories.

Let’s dive into the art of capturing the essence of your love from the start to the finish of your special day.

THREE TIPS FOR ELEVATING YOUR WEDDING DAY DETAILS

ONE | Embrace Being YOU

If you’re a couple struggling with wedding day details or unsure about what kind of details to focus on, my top advice is to keep it simple and true to yourself.

Embrace your authenticity.

Whether it’s your shoes, earrings, invitations, bouquets, or any other element, let them reflect your personality or hold personal significance. Details are the subtle threads weaving through your day, enriching your story.

So, don’t overthink it—just be you.

TWO | Focus on the Finer Details

Another tip is to focus on the finer details that align with your wedding theme, such as colors. For example, consider selecting a ring box that complements your chosen wedding colors.

THREE | Put Together a Detail Box

For the day of your wedding, make sure that all your wedding day details that you want your photographer to capture. For less hassle, have that set aside in a bag for her when they arrive.

As a photographer who has photographed many weddings, it takes more time trying to hunt down these details you want to be photographed when we are in a crowded room with girls/guys all getting ready with stuff everywhere.

It saves time being prepared with all the details put together!

List of Wedding Day Details to Include

What should you have on your Wedding Day Detail List?

As a photographer, I love creating flat lays—images shot directly above—of all your precious items, preserving them for years to come.

Here’s a list of my favorite details for you to bring:

  • Flat Lay (invitations/ribbons)
  • Ring Box/Rings
  • Wedding Dress/Bridesmaid Dresses/Suits
  • Veil
  • Jewelry
  • Perfume
  • Shoes
  • Hanger
  • Vow Books
  • Florals
  • Family Heirlooms
  • An Item significant to you
  • Details that match your wedding theme
  • Sunglasses

One of the most touching wedding day details I’ve captured is a bracelet with the Mother of the Bride’s Maiden Name engraved, adorned with lettering of her heritage—a truly thoughtful touch.

Wedding Invites

Timeless elegance meets modern minimalism in today’s weddings, where simple and classic invites steal the spotlight. Opting for clean, neutral color tones adds a touch of sophistication to your invitations.

Feel free to infuse your personal touch—a splash of color, a glimpse of your wedding destination, or a nod to your theme can truly reflect your unique personality as a couple.

As intimate celebrations become the trend, some couples lean towards luxurious, handcrafted invitations, while others explore more budget-friendly options on platforms like Etsy, Canva, Minted, Zola, or Zazzle.

Vow Books

Are vow books on your wedding checklist, or did they slip your mind?

Maybe expressing your thoughts in writing isn’t your forte, or perhaps you’re indifferent to the idea of scripted vows.

Consider this: vow books are the tangible keepsakes of your memories, capturing your genuine thoughts from that special day. Just like photographs freeze moments in time, having a physical book of your vows ensures those sentiments are preserved forever.

Think of vow books as a time capsule, a documented reflection on why you chose your life partner. They become a cherished memento, allowing you to revisit the joyous moments and recapture the emotions you felt on the happiest day of your life.

STORYTELLING: The Little Wedding Day Details are Important

I have been focusing on documenting what I see.

My job, as a photographer, has been to be more intentional in documenting what is meaningful to the couple & not what I want in my portfolio.

I have been living in the moment with my couples telling THEIR story. I want my couples to be who they are & not feel like we need all posed photos. A goal of mine is that I want to bring more life to my photos & capture interactions, and candid moments & focus more on experiences/memories of the day.

It is important to me that my couples are true to themselves & not force a story that isn’t them. I want to bring their love story to life by documenting exactly who they are.

Storytelling can be documented in any way.

It can be your own perspective on how you see your client’s love.

As your photographer, my parting advice in the grand scheme of wedding planning is to follow your heart.

The flat-lay photographs, while beautiful, are mere details—adjectives describing a chapter in your love story. Some clients may cherish these details, while others may not find them as compelling.

This guide is here to assist you in achieving the photographs you’ve envisioned, or maybe guide you in discovering what details matter most to you.
