Just wait until you see this Retro Dove Canyon Wedding! If you are anything like me, you are going to be obsessed! Before we dive into the good stuff, let me give you a little sneak peek into Jonathan and Brooke Bastos’ special day!

Bride and Groom at Retro Dove Canyon Wedding

Jonathan and Brooke have been together for 11 years, and they finally tied the knot. They have always been each other’s best friend, lover, and partner. As a couple, they have decided that whatever door they come to, they will never stop opening it together.

HOW THEIR RELATIONSHIP TURNED INTO THEIR RETRO DOVE CANYON WEDDING

Their love story didn’t come instantly, but after 11 years, they learned how to deal with loss, love & found a partner to lean on through all the obstacles of life.  They found they were better together and stronger together for all that they have been through.

Not many couples get a second chance at love… but Brooke & Jonathan did!

FINDING THEIR WAY BACK TOGETHER THROUGH A BOOK

Brooke wrote a book called, “ No Bad Days” where she took two years pouring her heart into writing about love, loss, and friendship. It was a way she learned how to cope and to put the pieces together turning her anger into a celebration. She found the light even at the darkest times.

During her writing this book, Brooke and Jonathan took a break from each other.

Towards the end of this book getting published, Brooke and Jonathan found their way back to each other and grew stronger and better than ever together. Not every love story is always perfect, the imperfections and how you work with each other and learn to cope with grief and loss is how you become stronger together as partners.

A DEEPER LOOK INTO THIS RETRO WEDDING

LOVE AND DESIGN

This wedding was dripping in sparkle. I mean, if you ask me, the more sparkle the better! Am I right? Not only was everything in full shimmer, but there were disco balls everywhere!

The florals also deserve to be talked about! They were filled to the brim with boho vibes with pampas grass with a mixture of fresh and dried florals. The colors were baby pink, a rusty orange, mint green, and white.

GROOMSMEN AND BRIDESMAIDS

Both the bride and groom had 8 bridesmaids and groomsmen at their Retro Dove Canyon Wedding. The couples wanted them to emulate a 70’s retro look with accents of color. It is safe to say that they exceeded all expectations.

All the men wore a black tie suit and Jonathan wore a velvet jacket to offset the rest of the men. The bridesmaid wore a mint green long dress where they got to choose all the different styles that fit them best.

A CEREMONY FOR THE MASSES

Brooke and Jonathan’s wedding was at Dove Canyon Golf Club in Trabuco Canyon, California right outside the Orange County area.

Their wedding altar was perfectly designed out of a Pinterest blog. Emily Smithson from The Moody Blooms designed a gorgeous floral install for all the boho, retro lovers. They had a V arch that the florals were placed on.

A year ago, Brooke’s family lost their dad suddenly. The fear of not having your dad walk you down the aisle was a struggle for Brooke always being daddy’s little girl. Brooke’s older brother stepped in and walked her down the aisle where there was not a dry eye in the crowd.

Brooke’s brother got to give her away to Jonathan. Sitting right in the front row was a memorial of “Too Tall Tom”, who got to sit and watch his daughter marry the love of her life in spirit and from above. Jonathan was lucky enough to know Brooke’s Dad for many years and right before his passing. He actually gave Jonathan his wedding ring band. It was such a special moment for Jonathan to have Brooke’s Dad’s wedding ring and to put on.

BOOGYING WITH THE BASTOS

California knows how to PARTY, and Jonathan and Brooke’s Retro Dove Canyon Wedding was no different!

Brooke and Jonathan broke out their party pants (literally Brooke changed into a white pantsuit) and shined bright like disco lights!

The two threw an epic “boogie” for their wedding. They designed everything all 70’s with disco balls and played retro/70’s music the entire night. Everyone loved a little funky town vibe as they danced the night away so hard! It was such a fun unique theme for a wedding that had everyone dancing on the dance floor.

When I tell you that lots of tequila shots were taken, I MEAN IT!

They had Polaroid cameras for everyone to take photos on throughout the night, and it made it even dreamier.
